“Hurry up and wait” is a phrase often heard around set… specially from actors. And boy, is there a lot of truth to it. My call time was 6AM. I arrive, check in, great everyone, get settled and find some breakfast (which are typically very good… made on site by craft services).
After settling in, I basically have to wait around until they need me on set. And waiting can be boring… so, here’s where experience kicks in: I always go to an on-camera job with plenty of reading material. Today, I was catching up with my magazine “The Week”… I love it! As you see in the above picture, I’m a bit behind in my reading… but that’s OK… I have a few hours.
And sure enough, with a 6AM call time, I was called to set at 11:45AM… 5.5 hours later than I arrived! Thankfully… this actor came prepared!
