Today’s blog is dedicated to everyone that is not an Actor! Take a sneak peak at what a casting looks like above… that’s it!… usually the room has a solid colored background with camera in front of you and a microphone somewhere off to the side. The casting director will be positioned behind the camera and will give you instructions on what you need to do. If you look closely at the floor, you’ll see blue tape marks… those are “marks” created so actors know where they must stand at certain moments. For example, the casting director might tell you “deliver line 1 on mark 1, then go to mark 2 and give a reaction, then give your second line of mark 3…”.
This particular casting was for a car commercial, so that’s why you see me behind a steering wheel… or at least something that is supposed to be a steering wheel. I auditioned for the role of “geeky consumer”, so I had on fake glasses and a sloppily put on button up shirt (missing buttons and all!).
This photo was taken by my good friend named Derek Latta (www.DerekLatta.com) . Derek has been a mentor to me in the acting business… he’s given me great advice which he has learned through 5 years working as a full-time actor. Yes, that’s right, he only works as an actor and makes a living off it!… my hero!!! 😉 Remember his name… I am sure you’ll see it one of these days on a sitcom or something….
