So I’ve been in New York for about a month and do I feel overwhelmed with the stuff I gotta do. I want to learn accents, take monologue classes, do more classes on scene prep and cold reading… and of course, take as many workshops that I can with casting directors.
Sigh… catch my breath. I gotta remember to take one step at a time… even if it is just a step, it’s forward.
Despite feeling anxious and overwhelmed, I’m lucky. I have an agent… he is a good person and we hit it off. He sent me on my first audition for a NY TV show pilot. It’s some police drama and I read for the part of a Telemundo reporter. Go figure!
I’ll be honest, I was so nervous. I think it was just the barrier of doing my first NY audition. It went well, so that was a relief… I just couldn’t believe how nervous I was. I mean, the nerves are always there, of course… it’s a part of it…. but they get under control when the scene starts. But this was a short scene…. no biggie, so I couldn’t understand why I was nervous going into it. But alas, it was the first one… and that definitely had something to do with it.
I’m looking forward to the next one…
Thanks, as always, for checking in!
