I gotta be honest… it’s a cool feeling when friends post messages on my Facebook page when they see one of my commercials or TV appearances or a billboard. And besides making me smile, there’s also a practical point to it… it lets me know when an ad or show is running… which is important, because lots of these jobs have time limits… so if they are being run past the contract time, that means they need to pay me again!
This actually happens quite often… as an actor, you have to be vigilant as to how long your image is being used. I don’t have to worry about this with any SAG projects (which is the actors union). However, non-union work is quite different… those can be tricky. That’s one of the reasons I’m sure I’ll be taking the leap and joining the Screen Actors Guild soon.
